As reaction vessel, is it possible to use a 20l jar for food conservation? Also, why the phases are separating after the addition of NaOH ?

At point 6, what volume of oil was obtained ? And just to make sure that I understand correctly, at point 7, we add 8 liters of IPA to separate remaining polar molecules from amphetamine base oil, correct?
