Price insanity for 2-bromo-3-methylpropiophenone compared to 2b4m + some quotes to compare

So in my attempts finding a a supplier for some 2B3M (CAS : 1451-83-8), i've made some inquiries.
The inquiries cam down to :

CAS : 1451-83-8
Amount: 10kg, (repeated at some interval, when satisfied).
Incoterm: the least hassle, so think DDP or (DPU which i didnt know existed)

An just like on this site, lots of Angies,Jessica, Rose's and other western named company managers , and also some working under different company names (as shown below).

What i really don't get is and what my actual question is :

- what makes 2b3m such incredibly more expensive than 2b4m? Even 3-methylpropiophenone is high priced (if you can even get it somewhere)
- what makes the price difference per company so drasticly different?

hopefully some transportation expert or insider in this business could tell me if this is common practice or other tips..

if i, as non-expert of the matter,
had to make a choice from the below, i'd probably pick either G or C (prob the same company), because somehow give me a professionalism impression by mentioning production cycle.

Those prices, some of them are insane. I'm not a real chemist but I larp my ass off and I'll speculate that it is because the meta position of the methyl is a lot trickier to add than para/ortho.

its simple, one is a precursor to an illegal product (4-MMC), which translates to normal to low demand, so lower price.
the other one is a precursor for 3-MMC, which is still in the gray area legalwise for a big part of the world and many are taking advantage of it, and that translates to high demand high price.

4-MMC is illegal everywhere, but 3-MMC for some reason instead of being categorized as a schedule I drug by the UNODC it was categorized as a schedule II, go figure.., So it still is in the gray area of legality for many countries and that's why you can find it for sale on RC shops and smartshops, it also has 3 clinical trials going on at the moment by 3 companies, Clearmind Medicine is researching 3-MMC as potential treatment for dyskinesia, MindMed has already filled a patent to use 3-MMC for PTSD, and believe it or not, a small Dutch company called Period Pill had its first clinical trial complete in the university of Maastricht researching 3-MMC as a potential treatment for menstrual symptoms, their first clinical trial is marked as successful, even though its hard to imagine what the results were..

Unfortunately 3-mmc is not available via any RC shops or smartshops any longer.
If you look closely you'll see they are selling 3-cmc, sometimes leaving the page to look like 3-mmc

thieves. 3-cmc is total crap and isn't anything 3-mmc is.

3-MMC is still available on RC shops, i cannot include link because it would be sourcing, but to help you, look for RC websites that are not based in the Netherlands (.nl domain) rather look for RC websites based in poland or with .eu domains.
it appears as if there is a shortage of 3-MMC in the Netherlands, i wonder if the very high price of the precursor has to do with it.

Regarding the 3cmc and other stuff being sold as 3mmc. If they only had some ethics left in their balls then at least sell 4mmc as 3mmc.

Both of you got me intrigued...
There is a huge shortage of 3mmc - not only in NL but all over Europe - for the past 5 months.
Just read around the forums (dread, reddit) and see how many people are trying to get the real stuff only to get 2-mmc, 3-cmc and other crap from ALL vendors on the leading dark markets.

So anyone who will produce the real deal will make a killing (starting with me as the first customer)

yeah, there are 2 actually. Both new vendors with 0 reviews and 0 sales.
Both are new sellers who cannot provide a lab test...
I've purchased from 5 different vendors in the past 3 months from all over the EU, tested them all, and none was the real deal, so excuse my suspicion.

Thanks for your responses. It makes sense, although i'm not sure if the chinese are really bookkeeping what countries put what substances on what schedules.
I will make some orders and test it out.

bookkeeping or not, it makes no difference, its the gray zone opportunity in many countries that creates the high demand, but for such high prices to appear, it would mean that production struggles to meet demand, which is kind of hard to believe considering its china we're talking about.

I dont know abaut what peice incanity you are talking off, but there is loteraly people i got contacta from forum who got it and ita usualy 50-100$ expensive then 2b4m, its really big peice difference for such similar products, maybe the grignard is expensive then fiedel crafts and thats makes the 3methylpropiophenone expensive, who knows

That may be, but not in Europe. You could give away 4mmc for free and they won't even bother picking it up (so to speak). For 3mmc that's a completely different story

probably a bad idea, but how impossible would it be to take the cheaply available 3-chloropropiophenone and replace the chlorine atom with a methyl group?, in my limited knowledge this would just need a methylating agent and basic conditions, I'd try methyl iodide or maybe dimethyl sulfate, so basically good old nucleophilic substitution, the methylating agent should attack the chlorine-bearing carbon atom, pull out the chlorine and form a new carbon-methyl bond.

i am probably missing something obvious here but id like someone like @Osmosis Vanderwaal to give an opinion.

Nah you got it right cl is a halogen just like br FL and io. The exact same procedure works fine, but it just needs a bit more energy because chlorine is less reactive than Br. If I'm not mistaken ( I'm not mistaken about the same procedures, I might be mistaken about which is more active )
